Aias

€350.00

This sculptural vase its inspired from Aias, a prominent figure in Greek mythology and son of Telamon, King of Salamis, is celebrated in the Iliad for his immense size and strength, second only to Achilles. He famously duelled Hector, the top Trojan warrior, and with Athena's help, saved Achilles' body from the Trojans. Aias's rivalry with Odysseus over Achilles' armor led to his tragic end. Overcome by rage from his loss to Odysseus, and later madness, Aias ultimately took his life with the sword Hector had gifted him. Legend says a red flower, bearing his initials "AI" and symbolizing mourning, grew from his blood.
